Savers opening first Maryland store in Parkville
Kamenetz applauds 40 new jobs
Towson, MD - Savers thrift store has signed a lease with Heritage Properties to open its first Maryland store in Parkville. Savers will partner with a local nonprofit organization and will pay the organization for every item donated at the store’s Community Donation Center, as well as for items donated directly to the nonprofit.
“Savers brings a unique retail concept and new jobs to Parkville,” said Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz. “This is a store that combines the thrift shop chic fashion trend with recycling used goods and helping local nonprofits.”
The new store will be located at 1925 East Joppa Road at Perring Parkway and has a target opening of spring 2013. The new store will bring approximately 40 new jobs to the Parkville community. Information about employment opportunities at Savers will become available closer to the store’s opening date.
”We welcome Savers to the Parkville business community. They are a shining example of ’doing well by doing good,’” said Councilman David Marks, who represents the Parkville area.
Carrying everything from men’s, women’s and children’s clothing and accessories to housewares and electronics, each Savers store stocks more than 10,000 new items daily and has over 100,000 unique items on the sales floor at any given time.
”We are very excited to open our newest location in Maryland,” said Sara Gaugl, marketing manager for Savers, Inc. “We look forward to joining the Parkville community and offering residents great deals on clothing and household goods.”
